The option symbol (⌥) marks the Option (Alt) modifier key on a keyboard. Unicode names it "option key" and, visually, it looks like taking an alternate path.
The command symbol (⌘) marks the Command modifier key on Apple keyboards. Unicode names it "place of interest sign".
The shift symbol (⇧) marks the Shift key, held with a letter to type its capital. Fittingly, Unicode names it "upwards white arrow", since the arrow points up toward the uppercase letter it produces.
