This example demonstrates how to construct an equilateral triangle using a compass and ruler. An equilateral triangle is a triangle whose sides are of equal length.
- Start by drawing the base of the triangle as a line with two end points.
- Using a compass place the spike of the compass at one point and the drawing tip at the second point and draw an arc upwards.
- Repeat the step above for the other point.
- Draw a dot at the point where the two arcs intersect.
Draw lines from the new point to the first two points.
We have finished constructing an equilateral triangle.
